Ray Smith (Brownsville, USA 1959) is a painter who, since the mid-eighties, has raised a peculiar reflection on and from painting. An artist who believes in the trade and has developed it in his 40-year career, he has dedicated himself to experimenting with what he can do as a creator from his own body and its scope, which has led him to discover of materials that he uses and mixes, the same that serve as a vehicle to create compositions in which he works until the concept and idea, the gesture and the line or what arises and surprises him are discovered, it is through experimentation, the accident, luck, chance and the passage of time that he spends on each piece that is presented at the moment of completion without consciously pursuing it.
